Correct Axle Assembly
Horizontal Dropouts
If you have horizontal dropouts on the rear wheel of your bike (horizontal and open at the rear), we advise against using the Pitlock system.
Usually "almost" all rear wheels are assembled in vertical dropouts (opening diagonally towards the bottom). Here the assembly with PITLOCK is no problem.
the axles have 5 mm diameter

The PIT:
A KEY which has various internal codes based on different shapes and which is used for opening and closing the code nut in the locking part. If you lose this, please reorder by e-mail at info@pitlock.de or in the PITLOCK shop.
The code nut:
This is screwed onto the axle with a little grease; it is the matching counterpart to the PIT and locks the axle.
The spring washer:
This locks the code nut and therefore prevents it being unscrewed accidentally. The spring washers must be assembled together with the springs, pointing in the direction of the code nut.
The Teflon ring:
The Teflon ring cushions the distance towards the inside and thereby prevents the parts from sticking together.
The locking ring:
The locking ring encloses the code nut with the entire lock and protects against unauthorised opening.
The pressure washer:
This produces a firm connection with the code nut and spring washer with the contact surface on the bicycle frame.
The PITLOCK axle:
Prevents opening with pliers on the conical head side.
IMPORTANT: Grease the threaded side before assembly. In the case of Rohloff gear hubs with quick-release skewers a maximum torque of 7 Nm must not be exceeded (according to Rohloff).
